Who Is Sphinx Editing?

I knew I wanted to be an editor in my freshman year of high school. After being on the editorial team that worked on over thirty different memoirs for my peers, I realized that I truly enjoyed combing through lines upon lines of text to make sure they are flawless. It is easy to overlook typos, to miss the spaces between words, to read something as if it is perfect—I’ve done it myself many times, even as someone with an editor’s eye.

It takes hard work and dedication to revise writing. After first, second, fourth, and even fifteenth revisions of my own fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, I understand that nitpicking your own work for the hundredth time is exhausting.

I love that stuff. The tedious work is what I crave.

The sphinx is said to act as a symbol of man's dominance over nature, but also as a bridge between the mortal and immortal. The words we write will live on long after we are gone. Editing is a necessary bridge between the author and the reader.

And so, Sphinx Editing came into being. Although copyediting is my forte, I have experience with regular editing. If that’s what you need, I have it. The Great Sphinx of Giza still stands after 4,500 years. I can only hope that Sphinx Editing can have a fraction of that endurance.

• 18 Years of Writing Experience

• 6 Years of Copyediting Experience
